Democratic leaders in North Carolina are urging their colleagues in the General Assembly to take action and prioritize funding for child care as federal support dwindles.
“Child care is not just a convenience; it’s a foundational issue that can mean the difference between success and failure for families,” emphasized Senate Democratic leader Dan Blue.
With private school vouchers diverting funds from public education, Democrats argue that the General Assembly’s priorities are misaligned with the needs of working families. “We must invest in our children’s futures and support working parents by ensuring access to affordable, reliable child care,” Blue said.
As federal child care funds expire, Democratic lawmakers call for a renewed focus on public investments to support North Carolina’s children and families.
